“Back in Time Party!”
On Saturday, September 13th the Butler County Historical Society will host a “Back In Time” 1950s themed family event from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The party is in conjunction with the society’s current exhibit entitled, “Hot Fun in the Summertime: Butler County’s Summer Delights of the 1950s & ’60s” which features local drive-in movie theaters, drive-in restaurants, municipal swimming pools, local snackfood manufacturers, and county-based soda bottling companies. The exhibit closes at the end of September, so time is running out.
The outdoor event is open to the public and will be held at 327 N. Second Street, Hamilton, Ohio in the heart of German Village and includes ’50s themed fun-filled activities, games, and prizes for the kids sponsored by the BCHS and McCloskey Wonder Works, DJ and ’50s music provided by Third Street Music, drive-in style food provided by Village Properties, vintage autos, and Hamilton’s famous Cearley’s soft pretzels provided by the Cearley family! There will be something for the entire family.
As an extra bonus, the Holiday Auto Theatre, 1816 Old Oxford Road in partnership with the BCHS will host a special double feature on the evening of the 13th with showings of “Grease” (1978) followed by American Graffiti” (1973). The first film begins at approximately 8:10. The films are open to the public. All BCHS members and those attending the earlier family event will receive a voucher for discounted admission to the drive-in for $2.00 per person.
